Open-Source Contributor

GirlScript Summer of Code is a two-month open-source program. I worked on three active React and Node.js projects and merged five pull requests that added end-to-end MERN features and resolved production bugs.

The interesting part was the review process. Senior maintainers on each project ran structured review cycles, so every PR had to ship with tests, a clear description, and a migration path for any breaking change. I learned more in those two months about reading other people’s code than in any single course.

I also refactored a handful of legacy class components into reusable functional components, which improved the maintainability score on the projects I touched.
